Kårstova was built as a farmhouse in Laupland around 1730. It was then located in the old yard and replaced the smokehouse as the farm’s farmhouse. When the new farmhouse was built a hundred years later, this building took over the function as kårstove. That is, a house for the elderly after they had given up the farm.
From around 1900, the building was used as a chicken coop and moved about a hundred meters north of the yard.
Haugalandmuseet/Bokn Rural Museum is responsible for the building today.

Kårstova in Laupland, erbaut um 1730
Kårstova wurde um 1730 als Bauernhaus in Laupland errichtet. Es stand damals im alten Hof und ersetzte das Räucherhaus als Wohnhaus. Als hundert Jahre später ein neues Bauernhaus gebaut wurde, übernahm Kårstova die Funktion einer sogenannten „Kårstove“, eines Hauses für ältere Menschen, die den Hof aufgaben.
Ab etwa 1900 wurde das Gebäude als Hühnerstall genutzt und etwa hundert Meter nördlich des Hofes versetzt.
Heute ist das Bokn Dorfmuseum/Haugaland Museum für das Gebäude zuständig.
